Brea and I have known each other since Grade 3. We have been through a lot together and I am so happy for her. She is due March 17th, which is my Dad's birthday and Saint Patrick's day.

I could go on and on about Brea but lets just get to the photos.

Meet Dayla

Just a few days ago she turned six months old. This little angel was such a joy. She had big smiles throughout our photo shoot. Dayla loved biting the bucket and playing with the buttons on the sock, and especially loved playing in the birds nest. She did however not really care for the angel wings. Maybe it was because I put them on upside down at first. Thanks Danielle for such a wonderful morning with your lovely baby girl. Stay in touch.

Ken + Kelly

Ken + Kelly are such an amazing couple They have known each other for 25 years, but just started dating 3 years ago and on October 7th they got married. Their wedding was held at the gorgeous resort Sparkling Hill Winery. Their wedding was the smallest I have photographed with a total of 8 people. Both sets of parents and two friends.

I met Ken + Kelly a few months back when Lindsey and I did their engagement photos. Ken + Kelly asked me when the best time of day is to photograph people. I responded with early morning or late evening. Mornings worked better for them so we were all up at 4am and made our way to Kal Lake for the sun rise at 5:30. It was a perfect way to start the day.

Its not very often that a baby will happily sleep through our entire photo shoot. Actually I would of said it was impossible until I met the beautiful Kindley who did just so!

I would also say its very rare that a three year old boy behaved so well for 2.5 hours well we took pictures of his baby sister. However, Kindley's older brother Loch did just so!

Cadi you are such an amazing mother and have raised your boy so well, I just know Kindley will be the same.

MEHRAN+ERICA

I first met Erica when I was in Grade 6 through my sister Charis Broadbent who was also her Maid of Honor. They met in Grade 8 in a Social Studies Class. Charis and Erica were best friends ever since. Being a little sister and meeting your sisters friends is always a little intimidating but with Erica it was never like that. At first I thought she was a little quieter, super smart but very nice. When I got to know her a little better, I found out she was a lot like Charis. Some would say "wild" others would say "adventurist". She rode horses, played rugby, and motorbiked. Although rugby and riding horses came naturally motor biking wasn’t the best beginning. Charis shared this story at their wedding " I explained to Erica how the clutch works on a motor bike and how you have to let it out very slowly, without warning Erica popped the clutch and pinned the throttle, I fell off the back of the bike. Erica pulled a wheelie downhill while screaming until she crashed into the bushes. After a few more practice runs though Erica was a pro".

THE BEGINNING

Mehran and Erica were set up by their friends Tim and Andrea. Both friends had tried for a while but Mehran and Erica both protested. Eventually they wore them down and were convinced to do a group dinner. Erica thought Mehran was super cute, but spent most the night talking to her friend Tim. A few days later, on Mehran's birthday actually, he got up enough nerve to ask Erica out. They went for a huge greek dinner for their first date. They were pretty much best friends and inseparable after that. Her mom said at the wedding that she knew Mehran was the one for Erica as soon as they started dating because of the way Erica talked about him. Erica had gone on a few dates but had never gotten serious about a guy until Mehran. Her mom remembers Erica calling her up one night and telling her how if she was a guy she would be Mehran. So her mom knew then how serious she was about him.

THE ENGAGEMENT

It all started with a biking/camping trip to the Sunshine Coast with a group of friends. The seaside campground on a quiet bay and a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon gave Erica and Mehran the perfect opportunity to do some sea Kayaking. Armed with the ring hidden in a small dental floss box in Mehran's pocket, the two headed out for a paddle. After exploring a small island where they spotted a baby seal and many star fish, Erica and Mehran headed up the bay to a quiet spot where a blue herring was feeding. Needing a pit stop, Erica suggested they head back however Mehran had a different agenda. He suggested they pull onto a private beach for a potty break. When Erica came back around the corner, Mehran surprised her by getting down on one knee and was barely able to finish asking "will you marry me" before Erica said yes. After she calmed down, Mehran pulled the small blue dental floss container out of his pocket and placed the ring on her finger. Excited to share the great news with friends at the campground and make calls to their parents, Mehran paddled back quickly while Erica cracked jokes about her heavy left hand capsizing the boat.

As always I like to share some funny stories about the bride and groom. This one is from Erica during their wedding ceremony "I walked down the isle and up to Mehran who had a giant grin on his face and carrots chunks all in his teeth. I just chuckled to my self but when the wedding commissioner told Mehran to smile bigger I had to lean in and tell him. I almost died trying to hold my laughter in".

ERIC + MARIE-CLAIRE (M-C)

ERIC + MARIE-CLAIRE (M-C)

Eric + M-C are high school sweethearts! They have known each other since grade 6, but didn’t start dating until grade 11. Eric used to hold M-C’s hand all the time in class. A few of their high school teachers scolded him but M-C never got in trouble because she was the quiet A+ student and he was the class troublemaker.

I love to share stories about the bride and groom so here is one from M-C “Eric has never brought me flowers in the 7 years we've been together. I always ask him to give me some one-day to surprise me. One day he came in with his hands outstretched and cupped in front of him. Inside was the most precious little daisy. I was ecstatic! ("Oh Eric you brought me a flower!!" - I will take anything I can get, even one flower.) Eric looked confused... "um sure?... I actually just saw this on our front lawn and was going to look it up and see if it might be chamomile and not a daisy."

Eric proposed on their 6-year anniversary of dating. He made a huge dinner of mussels in wine sauce with fries (i.e. moules frites - one of Marie-Claire’s favorite dishes and part of her Belgian heritage) and Marie-Claire cooked Eric’s favorite blackberry pie. Then he got down on one knee, told her how much he loved her and asked if she would marry him.

Eric + Marie-Claire got married in Eric’s grandmothers backyard. It reminded me of a fairy tail. There was a swing hanging from a tree, beautiful tall grass, a view of the Okanagan Lake and of course amazing friends and family. Amy, one of the bridesmaid drew a tree similar to the one the couple got married under. The three was then stamped with everyone’s finger prints and then signed with their name. Eric and Marie-Claire have a bridge and groom birdie fingerprint with an e=mc^2 heart on the three. As well as their dog Arthur who has a bone at the bottom of the tree. What an amazing idea for a guest book! (See picture below)

Just a few more quick stories about this great couple. Eric used to write lots of letters to M-C and M-C would do lots of little doodle drawings, they still have them to this day. On each anniversary of dating they watch an Audrey Hepburn movie with a nice home-cooked meal. Eric used to have hair down to the middle of his back. M-C said it looked like a messy birds’ nest. So they made a deal that when they moved to the West Cost he would have to cut his hair. They ended up moving to Vancouver, where he saved his head (M-C asked for a buzz cut) However they are now back in Calgary and their deal no longer applies. Good luck M-C!

I wish you all the happiness in the world you both deserve it.

Eric + M-C love their dog Arthur. He was even in the wedding party! They found him half-starved in the middle of nowhere asking for a belly rub then jumped into their car uninvited. Lets just say he found an amazing home. Arthur often sleeps between Eric + M-C with his head propped up on one of their pillows with his paws extended and shoving one of them off their bed!

Eric + Jessica

ERIC + JESSICA

Eric + Jessica first met at work in 2008. It all began at a work Christmas party that year. Eric asked Jessica to dance, then a couple weeks later they were dating. Christmas eve to be exact!

Eric proposed to Jessica in Nova Scotia on the Beach in Ingonish under the stars and moon on September 7^th 2010. Eric’s favorite place is Ingonish. Now, if any of you are like me and didn’t know where Ingonish is, please take a second and look it up. What a beautiful place. One day I hope to visit Nova Scotia and will defiantly make my way to Ingonish.

Jess + Eric weren’t very traditional when it came to doing things in order. But who says we have to do things in order right! They bought a house and signed the papers only 3 months after they were dating. They actually signed the papers on March 17^th, which was Jessica’s Maid on honors birthday (Chelsea) By the way Chelsea we all agree you are good luck!

Eric + Jessica then welcomed their amazing dog Abby into their new home.

This brings up to date in 2011 where Eric + Jessica got married in Kelowna British Columbia at Elysium Gardens. Their reception was held at the Delta Grand Hotel.

We had a few droplets of rain in the afternoon. So Chelsea, I would like to thank you for this. As I hear rain is good luck on your wedding day.

Eric + Jessica go on their honeymoon on September 21^st to Maui. Jessica’s favorite place as well as one of mine. Jess even convinced Eric to get a couple of massages. Trust me Eric, I’m sure you will love them.

I just want to say a huge thank you to the most amazing Bride and Groom. Thank you for all the smiles we shared during your day. You made me feel so welcome and part of your family.

Jessica you are the fastest person I know who responds to my emails so I just want to say a HUGE thank you for that.

I hope to stay in contact with you both. Have an amazing honeymoon and enjoy some of my favorite shots from your wedding day.

My lovely sister agreed to come into my studio so I could get more photographs of my amazing little niece.

I wont lie, its a challenge and a lot of patience to get babies to pose like this. There were cries and tears but by the end she was sleeping peacefully.

I was so excited to see UPS pull up to my front door this morning because that meant my new wedding books were in!

I just started using this amazing company and couldn't wait to open the box. The turnaround time was unbelievable. I am very excited to start wedding season and show off our fabulous books!

Our Wedding Books contain 20 spreads, or 10 pages in a 10x10 size. We pick your best photographs from your wedding day and custom design each and every album making it unique to you.

Maternity Portraits

I had the lovely opportunity while I was in Vancouver to stop by Janelle's place and get some maternity portraits of her.

Being Vancouver it was no surprise that it was raining. The rain didn't stop us though. Janelle grabbed her umbrella and we made our way out to an open field with a very cool red barn.

Tracking through the field was quite interesting because in parts it was very muddy and the grass would sink into mud. Lucky neither of us slipped and we made it through.

Thanks so much Janelle for the amazing shoot. I cant wait to get some newborn photos!!!

The past year I have been documenting a construction site at Cambie and Garden City in Richmond British Columbia. The six-storey development, "Remy," was to have been the first to take advantage of recent changes to the B.C. building code that made construction of wood buildings of more than four storey’s possible.

However, on Tuesday night it was destroyed in a spectacular blaze overnight. The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m.

The massive fire at the 251-unit condominium and social housing project burned for more than five hours before being brought under control. Flames lit up the night sky for kilometers around and hundreds of resident turned out to watch. But firefighters were unable to put the fire out before the building was destroyed.

Epson 4900 Printer

So....I'm super excited about my new Epson 4900 printer I figured I would blog about it.

Below is a little bit about the printer:

The Epson 4900 has UltraChrome HDR Ink which represents the latest generation of pigment ink technology. It utilizing ten colors - including an all-new Orange and Green.

Their advanced Epson MicroPiezo TFP print head is capable of producing higher quality prints, at speeds up to twice as fast as their previous generation. And, with their latest ink-repelling coating and auto nozzle verification technologies, clogged nozzles are virtually eliminated.

One thing I really love about this printer is that both photo and matte black ink cartridges are installed simultaneously which is really awesome for switching from canvas to glossy photo paper.

I could go on and on about this printer but I will leave it at this.

Best Western Inn Kelowna

The snow finally started to melt on the mountains which meant I was able to finish my job up for the Best Western. I must say night time architectural photography is one of my favorites, and I'm happy that I was able to photograph some of the rooms in the evenings. Brenda Rayburn who is the marketing director for the Best Western is such a blast to work for, I couldn't ask for anyone better. Here are a few shots of their rooms. More photos to come of lobby, court yard, and hot tub and 97th Street Pub.

Kalala Organic Winery

Kalala Organic Winery
This was an interesting shoot..with white wine its best to show the color of the wine. However because the bottles were clear glass when held up to light you see through the bottle. This created a problem because you could read the engraving label through the bottle. Long story short I ended up sand blasting the back of each label off. Each bottle took approximately 30 minutes. You will see an example of the bottle below that still had the engraving of the label.

I've been horrible at keeping up with my blogging! I've been so busy this past month with moving into my new studio and of course my lovely vacations I was able to take. (Keep posted to see some of my photographs from Cuba and Mexico)

Aston was my first baby of the New Year as well as the first to be photographed in my new studio. Ashton is 7 weeks old and a very active little boy he is! We tried so hard to get him to sleep but there was no way. He was to occupied with looking at my studio lights. Here are a few favorites from the shoot.

I was hired by Kitchen Design Studio out of Calgary to photograph a Kitchen in Carrs Landing. This house was spectacular. It overlooked the lake and had a mixture of wood and concert. I get to go back to the house later this week and finish off a few more shots of the home. I am so excited...

They made a stunning couple on this Fall day with the sun shining down and the trees reflecting the Fall colors.

Andrea & Mike's Wedding

Andrea and Mike came from Calgary to get married at Lake Okanagan Resort. The ceremony was beautiful, located on the corner of the lake.

Andrea was such a blast, she had no problem walking into the water so we could get the shots we needed. Luckily no one fell in!

Kelly and Allan..

What an amazing couple! I had such a blast photographing their wedding.

One of Kelly and Allan’s passions is playing hockey so we decided to rent the hockey rink on their wedding day. This was the perfect way to capture what they love doing. And a nice way to cool down from the hot summer air.

DJ Haymaker was their MC and DJ for the night. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to throw an amazing party.

Smiles and laughter were throughout the day and night. What an amazing wedding it was! Here are a few of my favorite photographs.

Brenda at the Best Western Inn is such an amazing lady and great client of mine. I was happy to hear when she called up and said they have some new rooms that needed photographed. Nathan & Dawn's Wedding

Yet again it was a beautiful sunny day in the Okanagan for Nathan and Dawn’s wedding day. Lindsey and I are always determined to find new locations for each wedding so we were very happy when we scouted a few new awesome locations.

The wedding party were such great sports about hiking up and down this hill for us to get the shots we needed. Its not easy for girls to walk up a steep hill in heels so we really appreciated it!

We also found this amazing barn on our way to the ceremony so got a few more photographs of the wedding party and couple.

Todd & Laura's Wedding

Todd & Laura got married at Bertram Creek Park. The temperature for that day I believe was 35 degrees.

Two Eagles Golf Course

So after a couple awesome weddings with Lindsey Mitchell we had to say goodbye to one another because she went on maternity leave. I can't wait to meet the new little addition to their family.

Once again I was looking for another photographer...

In January 2010 Lindsey Fisette who was attending Langara College at the time did an internship with me. After graduating from Langara Lindsey started working for Photography West in July.

Hi Guys,

Few things have changed since you last heard from us. Kendra moved to Australia last November and has decided to live there. I miss her very much but she is surfing and enjoying life...

So a few months back I had to hire another photographer for my weddings. Lindsay Mitchell photographed the first couples weddings with me. Lindsay is a photographer in Vancouver but was happy to drive up to Kelowna for the weekends, as her husband Arnie's parents live in Peachland. We had tons of laughs and great photographs. Here are a couple shots from a wedding we did in Salmon Arm.
